The likelihood of a successful Israeli strike to halt Iran’s nuclear program just dramatically increased
Dear Judith,In a major surprise announcement, the government of Azerbaijan has publicly revealed that they have granted Israel the right to use air bases along their border with Iran. This dramatically increases the likelihood of success for a potential strike because attack planes launched from such close proximity would not require refueling and could return for a second wave of strikes if the first did not accomplish all of its objectives.
The Azeri authorities foiled two recent Iranian plots to strike Jewish targets in their country, and some analysts believe their anger over Iranian intelligence operating so blatantly within their country contributed to this decision. Reaction from Washington to the news was sharply negative, with one Obama Administration official anonymously declaring, “We’re not happy about it.”
Iran shows no sign of backing down from its nuclear program, despite somewhat increased sanctions from the West. The only way Iran’s leaders will give up their dream of gaining the means to annihilate Israel is if they are forced to do so. But the cost of war on the Jewish people will be great…and today they face an even more immediate threat…a growing problem of hunger.
I remember the pain of hunger from my childhood, going to the dump and looking for something to eat. Today I’m asking you to help precious Jewish children who are hungry by giving to the Jerusalem Prayer Team so that we can provide them food during Passover. On this most recent trip to Israel, I was swarmed with requests for help. The Jewish people know that the members of the Jerusalem Prayer Team love them; they know you care! Things are really tough in Israel right now; many people, including many, many small children are going hungry.
Your support of the Jerusalem Prayer Team allows us to continue to stand up and speak out for Israel, as well as meet urgent humanitarian needs among the poor Jewish people living in Israel. Thank you so much for being part of this vital worldwide prayer movement.
Barukh atah Adonai eloheinu melekh ha-olam, hameikhin mits’adei gever.
Blessed art thou, Lord our God, King of the universe, who establishes the footsteps of man.
