I started writing a note back to Montana about the term “Birthers” that he used several times in his comment about a report I had written on Fox News’ Interview with Lou Dobbs regarding illegal immigration. However, when my response to him became too lengthy, I realized I was writing a article and not just a response to Montana. As a result, my comment is now a report on some of the subjects mentioned in his passionate comment.
Montana had mentioned the word “Birthers” but I did not know what the term meant, so I looked it up on Google. I found a very informative article on the subject at http://www.examiner.com/x-5890-Obama-Administration-Examiner~y2009m7d22-Is-President-Obamas-race-behind-the-birther-conspiracy-movement .
I want Montana and others who are ticked-off right now to know that I understand the anger and frustration you feel because, at times, your feelings match my own when I see some of the ugliness going on in the political arena.
I am basically a calm, friendly person who does not like to be at odds with people if I can help it. However, after receiving Montana’s comment yesterday and feeling his intense anger, passion, and frustration I realized that many people out there on the Internet Highway MUST BE feeling the same way right now.
As I continued to address some of the subjects Montana mentioned (i.e., race, birthers, conspiracy, Obama haters, Republicans, religion, patriotism, and the Constitution) I felt an overwhelming hope that readers might feel our likeness as an American rather than our divisiveness when we understand each other. Contention is work of the enemy and I think this is NOT what our country needs right now.
Montana, yes, you are right! I am one of those who have questions about Obama’s legality to be President. I have read reports like the ones mentioned in the article http://www.examiner.com/x-5890-Obama-Administration-Examiner~y2009m7d22-Is-President-Obamas-race-behind-the-birther-conspiracy-movement and I learned a lot. Thank you for bringing this point to my attention.
I do not know yet how much I can believe of what I read, it will take time for all the new information to filter through me and figure out what I believe is true and toss out of my mind what I think is false. I do know that Hawaii is tired of answering requests for Obama’s birth certificate, so I realize this is a problem for Hawaii, Obama, and the American people. Truly, these are difficult times for America.
I also have questioned why Obama won’t release his college records if he has nothing to hide. I think the request has something to do with a belief that he was Muslim, but at least now I understand why he is reluctant to release anything after the trouble his birth certificate created.
I know that I am not in a position to recognize a real Hawaiian birth certificate (or any other that appears online) and know if the one he put online is a fake or not, it’s up to the experts to decide. I guess that, since I don’t know if I can accept the birth certificate online as being authentic, I must be somewhat guilty of being a “birther ” (as I am not sure if it is or is not a conspiracy and who perpetrated it). However, I will leave that up to those who know more about the subject than I do and let them fight it out.
I do NOT know if President Obama has something to hide or not, I think he does, since we all do, but now I understand the zeal behind the movement to disprove his eligibility and the hate among those who are offended by those challenging it.
RELIGION — RELIGIOUS
I definitely believe Obama is Muslim because he admitted it in an interview with John Strossel — the interview is on You Tube.
I don’t think it matters if a person is Muslim, it only matters if that faith happens to be one the President of the United States espouses to when we are at war with the fanatical side of Islam beliefs. When Obama won’t salute the flag or say the pledge of allegiance, Americans may rightly wonder where he places his allegiance. There is always a fanatical side to every movement, belief system, as well as in religion. We have to understand Obama’s allegiance before we can judge his motives.
Muslim fanatics concern me because they believe that anyone who WILL NOT accept Islam MUST die, which we vividly had demonstrated to us on television with the beheading of Pearl in 2001 or 2002. If Obama is Muslim, even though he claims he is Christian and even though he also claimed “My Muslim beliefs” when interviewed by Strossel, then that is a huge problem for an American President.
This country is at war with those believing that Islam must be the only religion on earth and that unbelievers must die. I have a very big problem with this type of philosophy. It is like Christians believing that Christianity is the only true religion and those who do not believe in Christ must die. As I said, if President Obama has this upbringing, Americans may rightly wonder where Obama places his allegiance.
RACE AND RACISM
Racism is despicable and should not be tolerated! I even wrote 25 letters to editors of newspapers in my area because I am appalled by politicians using race and racism as a tool at election time as a means to win over people to their way of thinking. It is an unconscionable thing to do. We cannot heal as a nation from the evils of racism when politicians keep using racism as a tool to win elections or to gain support for their policies. I asked the editor to check on the story and to report on it. But, of course, I heard nothing from any of the twenty-five letters and emails I sent.
I don’t know one person who is a racist or hates Obama because Obama is African/American (or black as some say), and I have no problem with Obama’s color or race. I don’t see people’s color or race as a reason to like or dislike them because I don’t judge people by what I see on the outside. People are not what they look like outside, they are who they’ve become on the inside and that is who society judges.
I see Obama as an adorable father who has been blessed with a wonderful family. His wife is absolutely beautiful and extremely elegant. She tries to do good for America’s children and I admire people with those values. I have not found anything personal about the Obama family that I object to but I have a HUGE problem with Obama’s policies as President.
POLICY NOT RACE OR PARTY-LINE
What I object to with Obama’s policies has nothing to do with being Democrat or his race, it has to do with his ideals: such as redistribution of wealth, policies being forced down the throats of Americans without representation, and deals being made behind closed doors. None of my objection for his policies come from what I’ve been told by Republicans or the media people that Montana mentioned in his comment. My objection has to do with everything that I’ve seen with my own two eyes, and I am very concerned about it.
I also object to Obama’s idea of the government taking care of people’s needs instead of neighborhoods, churches, and communities taking care of their own. This is why I’ve been trying to work within communities to help them see their responsibility to help people in need spiritually, emotionally, mentally, medically, financially, or physically through churches, and neighborhoods. Ideally, business should provide resources within the community to help people in trouble and need assistance in one or more areas. In addition, those who receive help need to contribute to the community with their talents and skills so they feel their own value and worth as a community member.
In contrast, I strongly disapprove of people lavishing themselves with more than they need because they have a lot of money, and then stand by and watch someone suffer when they’ve done nothing to cause it. This makes me sick to see, which is why one of my goals is to someday have enough money to help people who ARE NOT FLAKES AND have been hit hard by life, from no fault of their own. All they need is some help getting back on track.
However, I know that there are consequences for our actions when we go against laws of nature, laws of the universe, and laws of God. It’s not up to us to rescue people from their consequences, especially when God is working with them so they can learn the lessons He teaching them, but we can help them through it as a friend, as a community, and as a congregation. They receive blessings by our service and we receive blessings too by helping.
INEXPERIENCE NOT RACE
I have a problem with Obama’s inability and ineffectiveness in handling the requirements of being President of the United States. Because of the huge gape in his experience, he should never have been elected President. It was ALL ABOUT RACE during the campaign and that is what got him elected. Unfortunately, it’s his own inexperience NOT RACE that causes him so much grief now.
If he were not such a good looking man who is black, with charisma like he displayed on the campaign trail, Obama NEVER would have been considered for the position he was elected to hold. But he and his staff made race the issue . . . and now it has backfired.
It is ridiculous to even suggest that race is the reason most people are angry with Obama as President. Race is not why his job performance rating is so low. His race is not why he has the value system or beliefs that he does.
Race has nothing to do with Obama’s views on Israel or his stance on war, arms and weapons of war, space exploration, responsibilities of government, and so on and so on. It is his unrealistic views and policy because of lack of experience in the real world that is a problem, at least it is the case in my mind, and that is making America’s safety very much at risk in the world we live in today.
I have no doubt that there is conspiracy at almost every turn in Washington. I also have no doubt that there is evil in both parties and bad things are going on in their political and personal dealings. In fact, the Republican Party is likely not happy with me the past five years because I tell them exactly what I think when they call with a survey or send me one in the mail.
I tell callers from the Party who ask for donation support that money won’t help them win elections when it’s their policies and their spineless courage to stand up for what’s right that’s the problem. I say, “When you start standing for the standards that the people expect from you then you will win elections. Money won’t do that for you, your actions do that . . . so NO, you will get NO money from me.”
I am becoming more and more Independent in my thinking than Republican, and growing more angry and disgusted with the Democrats as time passes — especially with Pelosi and Reid in office. I used to consider voting for a person based on their values and history and not on their party affiliation, but not any more. I fear having the Democrat Party behind a good man or woman now because they no longer stand for what the old-fashioned Democrat stood for when I was growing up. That is a problem for “Blue Dog Democrats” today.
PATRIOTS AND PATRIOTISM
Here is what I think we need to do. I think we need to combine our efforts, Republicans and Democrats alike, who still have Blue Dog values, and try to take back our country. I have a real problem with Congress over the past decade or two … or three. They don’t have a backbone to stand up for what is right. They won’t challenge status quo, I am one who believes in challenging status quo when things aren’t working right, and they won’t rock the boat when it is their career on the line.
I think Americans need to start thinking for themselves and doing their own research to verify for themselves what the truth is instead of letting others speak for them or tell them what to believe.
We need to be patriots in every sense of the word. In other words, we inherited the responsibility to protect what our Founding Fathers and patriots died to give us. And, in spite of the challenges we face, we cannot afford to do anything that compromises what they have sacrificed to make this country a nation that has been admired for two hundred years…but not any more.
What we have now is a lot of Americans who act much like spoiled little children. They are used to their parents giving them everything they want because they can afford it; America has been very blessed with prosperity. Many have grown up being demanding and lazy through the years and expect government to give them everything they can’t get otherwise instead of expecting it from themselves. They won’t rise up to the challenge and make their lives better. This is why Americans are like spoiled children.
The Founding Fathers had nothing handed to them. They had to work hard for everything they had and there was NO ONE to turn to when they needed something. Many of them died because they didn’t have basic necessities, and yet they were patriots! They sacrificed their lives, their possessions, and their way of life to change the world around them and make things better than what they left behind and could no longer accept.
Perhaps too many people today feel little appreciation for what early settlers sacrificed to give us what we have today. They look outside of themselves and to others for support and basic necessities instead of doing what it takes, using ingenuity and creativity, to complete their inadequacies and make their way through life the best they can.
Because of past sacrifices of Americans in the early days and their perseverance to make life better for their families in the future, we have a quality of life that they never were able to enjoy. Now many of us expect so much from life and demand things we have no business demanding. We find little value in the quality of life that we live in America and rarely think of others who die from being without such blessings.
Montana, I want to thank you so much for the challenge to examine these things and question how I feel and what I understand. I also appreciate the opportunity to tell you and all those who read this that I am thankful for being an American. I am grateful for the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, and for all the great leaders who have come before us, and for all they did to establish a nation so unique and blessed as we have to raise our families.
I am grateful for those who serve this nation in different capacities and come to our aid when we need protection and rescue.
Even though I sometimes complain about them, I do have tremendous gratitude for those who govern this nation; particularly those earnest souls who serve to the best of their abilities. For those who think their political position is a career, that think they don’t have to abide by the same law that we must obey, that think they are better and smarter and more privileged than the simpleton they serve, let us send them their pink slips because they’ve earned it!
For those of us who think elections are popularity contests, that we elect people because we like or don’t like them instead of for their skills and abilities to represent us according to the laws and standards set forth in the Constitution, who understand their personal responsibility in protecting this nation from wolves in sheep’s clothing — who are enemies within that want to destroy America and fundamentally change her to be what our ancestors left behind when they struggled to get here and establish a life — let me say that I hope you will see your folly soon and make changes that protect our way of life.
I would like to see us find common ground and work together to save this nation from civil war because of political differences and racism.
- Can we agree to disagree?
- Can we try harder to work with each other in cooperation and fellowship as a nation, as one family at a time, as one neighborhood at a time, and as one online community at a time?
- Can we be examples and show others how to do the same?
- Can we make a commitment to protect what we have been blessed with as an American, and not allow politicians to pit us against each other in order to gain political advantage?
- Can we be grateful for even the smallest blessings we have gained from early settlers and not act like spoiled children by demanding so much from life and government?
- Can we try to rid ourselves of the intense anger and frustrations we feel because of all the divisive issues we deal with today?
- Can we strive to be part of the solution and not part of the problem by doing positive things to help ease the hardships of those around us?
- Can we commit to being a more informed citizen and to be more responsible in choosing our elected officials?
- Can we try harder to unite Republican and Democrat Representatives in Congress and solicite their assistance in rescuing this nation from those dividing us for political advantage with their rhetoric?
- Can we also ask Republican and Democrat Representatives in Congress to help us find the wolves hiding in sheep’s clothing.
- Can we ask Republican and Democrat Representatives in Congress to grow a spine so they can stand up for what is right and not for political correctness?
- Can you please pass this message on to those who feel as you do?
Thank you patriots, who love the American Way of life, for reading this article all the way to the end. I am grateful for your attentiveness.
